Approach

As a psychiatrist, I am committed to providing comprehensive care to those struggling with mental health issues. My approach involves diagnosing, assessing, treating, and preventing mental disorders with the goal of improving the lives of my patients.

Diagnostic and Assessment Process

To diagnose and assess mental health issue I take a careful history of current and past difficulties together with a personal and family history. In addition, it might be necessary to conduct blood tests and other investigations in cooperation with your general practitioner.

Integrative Therapy Techniques

Although I originally trained in psychodynamic-psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the University of Cape Town, I now add techniques of modern traumatherapy like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and elements of interpersonal psychotherapy to create an eclectic, individualized approach. Acute or chronic childhood trauma is often unrecognized, and may be at the root of, or complicate, mental disorders. The integration of psychodynamic therapy and modern techniques such as EMDR can provide a safe and effective way to process past traumatic events, leading to a resolution of emotional barriers and a more fulfilling life.

Holistic Approach to Mental Health

In addition to traditional therapies, I believe in treating mental health difficulties holistically. This may involve the use of medication, as well as dietary supplements and natural medicines where indicated. I also enjoy working with other medical specialists, psychologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other licensed allied health professionals to provide multidisciplinary care to my patients.

Coaching for Work-Related Mental Health Issues

Given the increased incidence of work-related mental health issues such as burnout, it is crucial to address conflicts and emotional difficulties at the work-place as early as possible in order to prevent subsequent health problems. I provide coaching sessions to private clients, focusing on helping them find personalized solutions to work-related emotional difficulties and strengthen their resilience.

Your first appointment lasts 60 to 90 minutes, where I meet you and take a detailed history of your complaint, as well as a personal and family history, in order to make a comprehensive initial assessment.

Please bring previous medical reports and your current medication to your appointment.

At the end of your initial appointment I will discuss a working diagnosis and treatment options with you.

Medical aid rates

Your treatment is covered by the Swiss medical aids. The billing is done via Ärztekasse. Please bring your Swiss health insurance card to your appointment.

Private rates

Please contact me for queries regarding private rates and coaching.

Please be aware that consultations not cancelled at least 24 hour in advance (weekends excluded) will have to be charged in full (not covered by medical aid)
